We basically have a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Related subreddits. I'm gonna use a Marlboro model, though there are other brands that use the same colors (or have their own analogues): Red: Standard; heavy to some, yet normal to others. Green: Menthol, the only added flavor permitted in USA cigarettes as of 2009. Smooth: Menthol that tastes synthetic at times, and like a peppermint patty at others. Use with caution; Skylines are similar.

Blue: for Marlboro, these are the 'mild' menthols; for Camel, it means they're Lights. Gold: these used to be called Lights, but due to the government insisting that they must be renamed due to a nonexistent misconception that 'light' cigarettes were healthier.

In actuality, these filters have more holes poked in them or something to make the draw more difficult; to me, there's a noticeable taste difference as well. Silver: Ultra Light. Black: a subseries of Marlboro that's cheaper than the usual line; these don't taste quite as good, but they're better than Special Blend. Black can mean different things for different brands, though; for American Spirit, it's the Perique blend - they usually knock me on my ass if I'm not careful. Special Blend: Available in Red and Green for King Size and 100mm.

I would recommend that you avoid these; they're some of my least favorite. 72 - baby cigs. They're so cute and they seem to last about a minute or two if smoked quickly. Short/King Size (estimated 77.5mm) - these are standard length cigarettes; most are about this long. 83 - a length offered only by Marlboro to my knowledge. Slightly longer than King Size, these have a decent burn length, but doesn't feel like a 100.

99 - joke length Camels use instead of 100s 100 - the Long John of cigarettes. The filters on these are longer than usual, and to me, they seem more difficult to pull on. I used to get these all the time, but they took too long for me to smoke between classes, and I couldn't fit them into my jacket pocket on my breast.
